MUSICIAN, COMPOSER, BASSPLAYER, ARRANGER AND ARTISTIC PRODUCER.
 
It is considered by the national and European critics as one of the major specialists and virtuosos of the electric bass.
He is probably the Italian bass player who has made the most albums in his name in the last 20 years. Pippo Matino is a multifaceted musician that ranges from jazz music and related funky blues, blues, rock to Italian pop music. After a long apprenticeship full of experiences with the most important musicians of the Neapolitan area of ​​the time, then moved to Rome and began a new series of collaborations. At the same time he began his solo career recording his first album in 1993 produced by VIA VENETO JAZZ "LOW TENSION", practically the first of the famous Roman label, which was born thanks to the will of the unforgettable Biagio Pagano to produce this work and that, for the presence of tracks like DOCTOR MIKE and BASS SONG FOR NAPOLI, it has become an icon for many young bass players of the time.
He was co-leader with the guitarist Rocco Zifarelli and the Cuban drummer Horacio "ElNegro" Hernandez of the TEEN TOWN Trio and, at the same time, leader of the "ESSENTIAL TEAM" band alternately composed according to the periods by the drummers Pietro Iodice, Sergio Di Christmas, Claudio Romano and the saxophonists RosarioGiuliani, Javier Girotto or Giulio Martino + Roberto "Skianovic" Schiano at the trombone expressing, in both groups, a music rich in jazz-rock-funk influences that does not forget the melodic lesson of Mediterranean music.
